Crimson Storm Fall to the Tigers

SNU comes up short as East Central take the match 3-1 in Bethany

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm returned to the Sawyer Center to host the East Central Tigers for an evening matchup. The Tigers tripped up the Storm in four sets as they left Bethany with a 3-1 victory.

Southern Nazarene (3-12, 0-4 GAC) got on the board first after an attack error from the Tigers (10-6, 4-1 GAC). A few errors from the Storm and an ECU kill put the Tigers in front.

The two squads traded points until East Central made an 8-0 run to pull ahead 16-9. A kill from Kate Wright got the Storm back on the board, but the Tigers were in the driver's seat.

They powered down a kill and took advantage of an attack error to claim set point. An ace from the Tigers finished off the set as they took set one, 25-16.

East Central snagged the lead early to begin the second set. A kill from Riley Richardson put the Storm down by just one, but the Tigers responded with a 14-1 run to extend their lead.

A pair of kills from Kaylie Marshall and a few attack errors from ECU gave SNU some momentum to trail 21-13.

A few more kills from East Central and a Crimson Storm attack error gave the Tigers set two, 25-15.

The two squads traded points back and forth for most of set three. A kill from Kate Wright put the Storm up by one at 20-19.

A kill from Emma Grace Moddelmog and an ECU attack error put the Storm up by one. A service error from the Tigers and another kill from Marshall gave SNU set point. A Riley Richardson kill finished off set three as SNU took the set, 25-23.

The Storm kept their momentum going into the start of set four as SNU took advantage of an ECU service error and added on a kill from Whitney Bowie.

The two squads continued to trade points from there, but a Storm attack error and an ECU kill put the Tigers in front, 13-9.

A few more kills and another SNU error allowed East Central to slowly pull away. They continued to tack on the kills to push their lead to seven.

The Tigers took match point after a Crimson Storm service error. The Storm got in one last kill before ECU powered down one of their own to claim the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-1.
