Storm Get Back on Track at Southern Arkansas

Crimson Storm pick up road win over Southern Arkansas, 3-1

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm traveled to Southern Arkansas to take on the Muleriders in a Thursday night matchup. Southern Nazarene found their footing as they defeated the Muleriders, 3-1.

Southern Arkansas (9-7, 3-5 GAC) got on the board first before the Storm (5-15, 2-6 GAC) tied the score thanks to a kill from Kate Wright and an SAU attack error.

The Muleriders continued to tack on the points, taking an 8-4 lead. SNU continued to trail, but Riley Richardson and Wright teamed up for a pair of kills to put the Crimson Storm within one. 

SAU responded with a small run to stretch their lead to 16-12. A kill from Tatum Smith and Wright kept Southern Nazarene in the match as they cut the deficit to one once again. 

A few more points for the Muleriders pushed their lead to 22-18, but the Storm was not done yet. Another Richardson kill and a service ace from Emma Grace Moddelmog put SNU within one. 

The Muleriders powered down two more kills and took advantage of an SNU error to claim set one, 25-22.

The Crimson Storm was ready to even the score as they jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead to begin set two. The Storm kept their foot on the gas as Rayanna Mauldin, Wright, and Mauldin all tallied a kill to extend the SNU lead, to 8-5.

A small run from Southern Arkansas cut the deficit to one, but SNU responded as Moddelmog went on a serving run and Molly Langford and Wright powered down a handful of kills. 

Another kill from Wright gave SNU a comfortable 19-14 lead. Wright and Moddelmog teamed up once again on the kills keeping the momentum on the Storm's side of the net. 

One final kill from Whitney Bowie secured the set two victory for SNU, 25-17.

The Muleriders responded jumping out to a quick 6-2 lead to begin set three. The Crimson Storm was unphased as Bowie and Mauldin powered down the kills to cut the deficit to one.

The two squads battled from there taking turns with the lead. A kill from Richardson and a serving run from Smith put SNU in front 18-16.

The Muleriders continued to claw back tying the score once again. Wright and Mauldin remained on fire as they tacked on a few more kills to their stat line giving the Storm the lead once more.

A Southern Arkansas service error gave the Crimson Storm set point and an SAU attack error gave SNU set three, 25-22.

Southern Nazarene continued their momentum into set four snagging an early 5-0 lead. 

A pair of service aces for Wright pushed the Storm ahead once again to lead 9-3. 

SNU continued to dominate putting together a 7-2 run to lead by nine. Bowie, Mauldin, and Moddelmog continued to tack on the kills extending the Crimson Storm lead even more. 

The Storm kept their foot on the gas, as an SAU attack error gave them match point. Bowie notched the final kill of the match to take set four, 25-17, and the match 3-1.

The Storm will continue their road trip and take on Arkansas-Monticello on Friday, October 18 at 4:00 pm.
