DURANT, Okla. — Rainy weather conditions in Oklahoma City moved Southern Nazarene's Tuesday home game with Southeaster Oklahoma State to Durant, where SNU fell by a walk-off singe in extra innings.
The Savage Storm (24-23, 14-16 GAC) had the Crimson Storm's (15-31, 6-24 GAC) number this season, sweeping SNU weeks prior in Durant. SNU battled hard for their last meeting with SEOSU this season, but fell by a single run in the final at-bat of the ballgame, making that their fourth walk-off victory over SNU this season.
History shows that these two squads put up close games as all four matchups have ended in a one-run win by Southeastern.
The Savage Storm gained a 1-0 lead after two scoreless innings off a single to left field.
That score remained through the next three innings until Southern Nazarene locked up the score at 1-1 from Weston Hicks' solo bomb to left field.
Neither team could send in a run in the final two innings, pushing the game to extra play.
SNU Starting pitcher held the ground for SNU the first nine innings, delivering nine strikeouts against the Savage Storm.
SNU looked to gain an edge in the tenth, breaking out two hits to test the Savage Storm, but reached three outs before they could visit home plate.
With two outs already on the board, Southeastern avoided an 11th inning with an RBI single, calling the game with a final 2-1 victory.
SNU will face its final series of the season in Bethany, hosting Oklahoma Baptist Friday, April 28th at 2 p.m. followed by a noon doubleheader Saturday, April 29th.
