BETHANY, Okla. — After a three-game series with Harding on the road, SNU returned home for a weekday contest with Central Oklahoma, a matchup SNU saw earlier this season where they lost to the Bronchos by three in Edmond.
The Bronchos (8-2, 0-0 MIAA) put up 15 hits for 14 runs over the Storm (3-7, 1-2 GAC), whose seven total errors set the back the entire contest.
SNU faced a tough first inning, committing three errors that pushed the Bronchos to a 5-0 start.
The Storm bounced back with a few runs in the bottom half of the first, brought on by a DJ Van Atten fly out and a hit-by-pitch that put SNU behind three at 5-2.
The Bronchos snuck in two more runs in the second inning off of a ground out and another SNU error, putting them ahead 7-2. SNU looked to cut the deficit with the bases loaded, but reached their third out off of a fielder's choice, keeping them behind five runs.
After a scoreless inning between both teams, the Bronchos sent two shots over the fence in the fourth, growing their lead to 9-2. After a scoreless fifth inning, the Bronchos made it to 10 runs in the sixth after a sacrifice fly, moving to an eight-run lead.
SNU reached a quick three outs in the bottom half of the sixth, and UCO capitalized in the next inning, gaining two RBI's off a double and another score from a single, extending their lead to 13-2.
Avoiding the run rule, SNU scored two more runs off a walk and a fielder's choice in the eighth, cutting UCO's lead down to nine at 13-4.
The Bronchos were able to tack on one final run in ninth inning, making the score read 14-4. SNU reached a quick three outs in the bottom ninth, unable to erase the 10-run deficit, and UCO ended up with the 14-4 win.
