Bronchos Edge Storm

SNU falls short 7-4 to UCO in first road contest

EDMOND, Okla. —  In their first road contest of the season, Southern Nazarene fell short 7-4 to cross-town opponent Central Oklahoma.

11 Hits by the Bronchos (4-0, 0-0 MIAA) gave them the advantage they needed to take care of the Storm (1-3, 0-0 GAC) who fell behind with just four hits and three errors.

UCO got off to a hot start, getting a single and a double to land them four total runs in inning number one.

After three quick SNU outs in the second, the Bronchos tacked on another after an SNU fielding error, extending their lead to 5-0.

In the top of the third, SNU caught a big break, starting with a Dax Edmonds single to plate Peyton Vinyard and Carson Kinnaird for the 5-2 trail. SNU made it 5-3 after Colby Entwistle's single sent Cole Embrey home and then earned one more run after a Tanner Bare walk gave Edmonds the trip home.

The next couple of innings fell flat without anything happening on the offensive side for both squads. UCO picked the action back up in the sixth with a ground out, earning a run to push their lead to 6-4.

SNU struggled to find any momentum and UCO capitalized, picking up their seventh and final run in the eighth off of a triple that sent a Broncho home. UCO's run ended the scoring for either team as SNU reached three quick outs in the ninth and UCO picked up the 7-4 mid-week victory over the Storm.

Southern Nazarene will continue action next week on Tuesday, February 14th as they host University of Mary for a doubleheader starting at noon.
