Cross Country Competes in NCAA Regional

The Storm competed in Joplin, Mo. for the NCAA Regional Cross Country race

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Crimson Storm traveled to Missouri Southern State to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Regionals. Southern Nazarene competed against hundreds of athletes from the region to earn a qualification to the NCAA Championships.

The women hit the course first at 10 a.m. to compete in a 5k race. The team title was snatched by Winona State who earned 52 points and an average team time of 20:50.16. They were followed by Augustanna who finished with 95 points and a team average time of 20:50.16. The Storm women finished in 28th place with a total of 842 points and a team average time of 25:32.38. 

The women were led by Sabbatha Taylor who finished 98th with a personal time of 23:04.70. Elora Jones was the next finisher for SNU coming in 173rd with a personal time of 25:04.20. 

The men took to the course next to run a 10k race. The team title was awarded to GAC member East Central. They finished with an average team time of 30:25.74 and a total of 40 points. They were followed by Pittsburgh State who tallied 112 points and an average team time of 31:10.60. The Storm finished in 29th place with 901 points and an average team time of 36:35.70.

The SNU men were led by Daniel Ponce who finished in 145th place with a time of 34:30.20. Kayden Chaparro followed up with a 180th finish and a time of 36:02.5. 

The Storm concluded their season in Joplin and look to hit the ground running in the off season.
