Crimson Storm Men's Bowling Finishes 4th in Wichita, Kan.

The SNU Bowling competed in the program's first Tier 1

WICHITA, Kan. - SNU Men's and Women's Bowling Teams competed in their first Tier I event in the SNU program's history. A stacked field of 32 teams on the Men's side that included the number one team in the Nation, Wisconsin Whitewater. The Women's field included some of the top programs in the Nation.

The Crimson Storm was matched up with the current number one team in the nation, Wisconsin Whitewater, in the first round of bracket play.  The Crimson Storm lost to Wisconsin Whitewater in the best of five Baker Match Games 3-1 but the experience gained making the Final Eight was so valuable for the future.

"Lessons learned for the next time we visit the Final Eight," said Coach Jeffreys.  "We made history in Wichita but there is much more work to be done this year."

The Crimson Storm Women's Team was led by Freshman Sienna Stoner who averaged 195 during the six individual team games.  Stoner earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team finishing in the Top 5 of the Women's field of 216 players.

"Honestly, Sienna should have finished higher than 5th," said Coach Jeffreys. "The low first game out of the gate by Sienna was on me.  Sienna was not matched up well on the fresh pattern and that is my fault.  Being the player that she is, the ball change she made after Game One was a key move for her earning the All-Tournament award. She really battled and it showed how solid of a player Sienna is and how much she means to this program."

Stoner was the only freshman to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.  As a team, the Crimson Storm Women's Team finished their first Tier I event in 19th place and gained valuable experience in the process of improving as collegiate bowlers.

The latest USBC Collegiate Polls have the SNU Men's Team ranked 13th in the Nation after the performance at the Mid-States Tier I event.
