Storm Competes at GAC Championships

SNU raced at Arkansas Tech at the GAC Championships

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Men's and Women's Cross Country team traveled to Arkansas Tech who hosted the 2023 GAC Cross Country Championships. SNU faced steep competition on the course as they competed for a conference title.

The women hit the course first at 9:30 a.m. running a 5k race. The Storm finished 8th as a team with a team score of 241. East Central ran away with the women's team title collecting a team score of 36. Arkansas Tech followed ECU with a second place finish with a team score of 54. The individual title was won by Sophia Strange of Oklahoma Baptist who ran a 17:33.79. 

The Storm women were led by Sabbatha Taylor who snagged a 38th place finish with a time of 19:29.86. Elora Jones followed Taylor with a 57th place finish and a time of 20:12.70. 

The SNU men followed up with their own race at 10:30 a.m. The men hit the course for an 8k race finishing 7th with a team score of 221. East Central also snagged the men's team title with a team score of 20. Oklahoma Baptist followed ECU with a second place finish and a team score of 69. The first five finishers belonged to the Tigers helping lead them to victory. The individual title was awarded to Aspel Kiprob who ran a time of 22:52.14. 

The Southern Nazarene men were led by William Ramirez and Kayden Chaparro who finished back to back at 52nd and 53rd. Ramirez ran a 27:14.18 and Chaparro ran a time of 27:23.33

The Crimson Storm closed out their season in Russellville after competing in the GAC Championships.
