Men's and Women's Bowling kicks off season in Fort Worth over two days of the SWIBC

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Crimson Storm Men's and Women's Bowling Teams began their inaugural season debut at City View Lanes in Ft. Worth, Texas on October 7th and 8th. The City View Lanes event was the first event in the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference and featured 20+ colleges and universities bowling programs. The Men notched a 3rd place finish in SWIBC I among 14 total teams, followed by a 4th place finish in SWIBC II. The Women finished 6th of nine total teams in both SWIBC I and SWIBC II.

SWIBC I (Saturday)

The SNU Men's Team made their debut at the conference opener at City View Lanes in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Crimson Storm showcased an outstanding team effort going up against some of the top college programs in the Midwest Region. After five games of Individual Team Play and 12 games of Baker format, the Crimson Storm finished third behind Newman University and winner, Oklahoma Christian.

"What a solid effort by this team during their first college event," said Coach Jeffreys. "The players in this program have put in the effort and dedication over the past month and today we witnessed a glimpse of how good this team can be. There is so much work to do but what a fantastic start to our season and this program."

The Crimson Storm Men's Team was led by Gavin Taylor who averaged 218 during the five individual team games. As a team, the Crimson Storm averaged 211.92 during the 12 games of Baker format.

The SNU Women's Team made their debut and delivered a solid effort finishing 6th. "There were some big time Women's programs at this Conference event and the Women were not phased by the other programs," said Coach Jeffreys. "There were numerous positive aspects taken from their first event. The experience combined with what was learned at event number one is a great aspect to build on during this season."

The SNU Women's Team was led by Sienna Stoner who averaged 180 during the five individual team games. As a team, the Women's Team averaged 166.5 during the 12 game of Baker format.

SWIBC II (Sunday)

The SNU Men's Bowling Team entered the SWIBC II event at City View Lanes in Ft. Worth, Texas on October 8th, trying to back up their third place finish in SWIBC I with a top five finish at SWIBC II. The Crimson Storm Men's Team started slow and battled through adversity during the seven game Individual Team Play, finishing fourth behind University of Texas-San Antonio, Newman University and winner, Oklahoma Christian.

"Once again, the level of competitiveness by this group was off the chart," said Coach Jeffreys. "The players in this program continue to show the attitude of what it takes to have success at such a young age and experience level. The importance of making spares was a glaring aspect of the difference in between finishing fourth and a top two finish. As with any team, there is a ton of work and goals to be achieved and I could not ask to be involved with a better group to make things happen and continue to make some noise in the SWIBC."

The Crimson Storm Men's Team was led by Freshman, Connor Anderson, who averaged 214.14 during the seven individual team games. As a team, the Crimson Storm averaged 994 during the seven games of Individual Team Play.

The SNU Women's Team also backed up a 6th place finish with another 6th place finish in SWIBC II. "A highlight of the SNU Women's performance happened in game three of the seven game Individual Team Play outscoring Tulane University 951 to 885," said Coach Jeffreys. "Tulane finished in second place and the Crimson Storm Women built on that performance toward a 6th place finish. It's really cool to see the progress in the SNU Women's game ."

The SNU Women's Team was led by Freshman, Sienna Stoner, who averaged 203.57 during the seven individual team games. Stoner finished 10th individually out of 72 Women's players. As a team, the Women's Team averaged 178.11 during the 7 games of Individual Team format.
