Track and Field picks action back up in Norman after holiday break

NORMAN, Okla. — Southern Nazarene Track and Field picked the races back up in Norman, Oklahoma for the J.D. Martin Invitational, competing against a number of Division 1 and Division II schools.

The women had some stand-out times and placements in several events.

Madalyn Harper raced well in both the mile and the 800-meter race, finishing within the top 10 of both events. In the mile, Harper finished fourth with a time of 5:14.32. In the 800-meter race, she finished sixth with a time of 2:23.84.

Carissa Burns finished within the top 20 at 19th with a time of 27.27.

The men also had an excellent showing with multiple top times and placements.

Scott Lynch had a top-10 time in the 400-meter race, finishing eighth with a time of 51.67. Lynch also placed within the top 10 in the 200-meter race, finishing sixth with a time of 22.84.

Darius Petties finished just within the top 20 in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 20th with a time of 10.71. Matthew Kletke finished just after him in 21st with a time of 10.74.

Also in the 400-meter race, Darius Blackshire finished 12th with a time of 52.36.

William Ramirez had a top-10 finish in the 800-meter run, reaching a personal best of 2:06.27 as he finished 10th.

The men's 4x400 relay team (Lunch, Malachi Allen, Cedric Petties, Blackshire) finished 7th with a time of 3:28.60.

Southern Nazarene will head to Kansas Friday, February 3rd to compete in the Washburn Open.
