Savage Storm Take Game 1

Southeastern’s offensive burst in the sixth awarded them the 12-4 victory over Crimson Storm

BETHANY, Okla. — Maintaining a 4-1 lead early on, Southern Nazarene was stumped by Southeastern Oklahoma State's six-run sixth inning, ultimately falling behind 12-4 in Game 1 of the series.

The Crimson Storm (1-15, 0-7 GAC) hit a couple of bombs in the early going to stay atop with a smooth 4-1 lead moving into the 5th inning. When the Savage Storm (13-4, 5-2 GAC) were up at bat, they earned six trips across the plate in the sixth, propelling their offense the rest of the way.

Southeastern's sacrifice fly would at the start of the contest would earn them their first lead of the game at 1-0.

The bats were wide awake for Colby Entwistle and EJ Taylor as their back-to-back homers would give the Storm a 2-1 lead through just two innings. Cole Embrey added to this advantage as his triple allowed Peyton Vinyard a trip across the plate.

The offensive was smooth sailing for SNU as Drake Irby cracked one down to left field, earning a solo homer to put the Crimson Storm up 4-1 moving into the fifth inning.

Southeastern decided to take the reigns, crossing home plate six times to hold a 7-4 advantage over Southern Nazarene.

The Crimson Storm couldn't answer the rest of the way, leaving the Savage Storm room to score five more runs, ending the evening out on top with a final score of 12-4.

Entwistle put the Storm on the board first with his home run and 2-5 finish. Taylor finished 1-4, earning his third home run on the season.
