Wonder Boys Edge Storm in Series Finale

Late inning runs earned Arkansas Tech the sereies sweep over SNU

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — The pressure was on for Southern Nazarene Baseball as they went into Game 3 of their series with Arkansas Tech 0-2, dropping both games of their doubleheader just a day prior. The Storm (3-23, 0-15 GAC) didn't see much action at the plate, falling 3-9 to the Wonder Boys (14-8, 9-6 GAC) who piled on a few runs late in the game to make any comeback for SNU out of reach.

The Crimson Storm were troubled through the first four innings as Tech was able to stack up four runs just before the fifth inning, starting the game off at 4-0.

Noah Ellis make a statement hit in the top of the fifth, earning SNU's first two runs with his bomb over to left field, giving Colby Entwistle the score in the process.

In the sixth inning, Tech walked three Storm players to load the bases. Tyler Broyles reached on a fielder's choice, sending in Brian Brown for the score and SNU trailed the Wonder Boys 3-4.

That would be last we saw of any Storm players making trips around the diamond as Tech was seeing strikeout after strikeout. On the offensive side, ATU put up an unmatched 7th inning, tacking on four runs to send their lead to 8-3. Tech would add on one more run to make it 9-3 with one final inning left for SNU to plan their comeback.

The Storm saw no offensive gains that final inning, leaving he Wonder Boys to finish 3-0 on the series with a final Game 3 victory of 9-3 over SNU.

Noah Ellis finished 1-3 courtesy of his energizing home run that earned him two RBI's that game.

Tyler Broyles had the 1-3 finish as well with an RBI.

Southern Nazarene will head back to Oklahoma this week, but travel further South to face off with Southeastern Oklahoma State again this season on Tuesday, March 22nd with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. The Storm hold an 0-3 record against the Savage Storm after meeting with them earlier in the month for a three-game series over the March 4th - 5th weekend.
