Storm Fall in Series Finale

Tigers halt the Storm in Game 3, going 3-0 on the weekend with a 14-4 win over SNU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Another tough day for Southern Nazarene as they dropped Game 3 of the series with Ouachita Baptist 14-4 over in Arkadelphia.

The Storm (1-11, 0-3 GAC) put up a great fight in Game 2, leading the Tigers (6-4, 3-0 GAC) by one before Ouachita exploded for two more runs to take the final victory.

It seemed the cold spell remained on SNU in Game 3 as the offense never gained any momentum, leaving the Storm scoreless through seven innings.

Ouachita Baptist capitalized on the Storm's drought, scoring runs in all but two innings, leading to a total of 14 trips across the plate to SNU's four that afternoon.

The final game was far removed from a clear winner in the earlier innings as Ouachita was only up 4-0.

The paced quickly turned in favor of the Tigers as they put up five more runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to bring the score to 9-0 with two more innings left to play.

SNU finally caught a bit of offensive fire, exploding for four runs in the top of the 8th to trail the Tigers by four at 8-4. Brian Brown kick started the Storm's offense, singling down to right field to score EJ Taylor and Cole Embrey. Tyler Broyles cracked one down the middle shortly after, sending Dalton Tarrant and Brown across the plate.

Ouachita impeded the Storm's comeback as they scored an additional five runs to lead 14-4, ultimately calling the game and adding one more win to their weekend as they swept the series.

Brown continued to have the hot bat, finishing 2-3 at bat to go along with two RBI's and a run. Broyles also stepped it up on the offensive end, finishing 1-1 with two RBI's. Embrey finished 1-4 with a run while Taylor also finished with a run, going 1-3 that afternoon.

Triston Graves spent the most time on the mound for the Storm, recording 3.1 innings pitched. Hutch Underwood served the second most, pitching a full inning in relief while recording the Storm's only strikeout that game.

The Storm will have another road game February 22nd as they head to Woodward to matchup with Oklahoma Panhandle State. First pitch is at 2:00 p.m.
