Riverhawks Weather Storm in Series Finale

SNU drops second doubleheader 2-13 and 4-15 to close out the series

Northeastern State (5-2, 0-0 MIAA) had a perfect weekend in Bethany, maintaining a 4-0 record throughout the series as SNU (1-7, 0-0 GAC) fell 2-13 in Game 1 and 4-15 in Game 2.

Game 1

The Riverhawks put up an early 3-0 start in the opening inning, but the Storm were able to cut that lead down two as Brain Brown's single sent Cole Embrey in to score SNU's first run of the game.

Northeastern's huge double to right field gave three Riverhawks players trips across the plate to extend their lead to 6-3 in the third inning.

Brown's fly out gave EJ Taylor the chance to run in and the score sat at 6-2 moving into the fourth.

The fifth inning was quiet for both teams, but NSU's bats woke up in the sixth, scoring three quick runs to hold a 9-2 lead over the Storm.

The Riverhawks would score four more runs in the sixth to stretch their lead to 13-2. The bats were stilled in the final inning, giving NSU the victory in Game 3.

Embrey and EJ Taylor both tallied a run for the Storm while Brian Brown tallied two RBI's, finishing 2-2 that game. Other notables were Weston Hicks, who finished 2-3, and Noah Ellis, who finished 1-1.

Kasen Jackson got the start at the mound for SNU, pitching 2.2 innings and totaling two strikeouts. Casey Minchey also pitched for 2.1 innings also recording three strikeouts.

Game 2

The Riverhawks kept their offensive heat in Game 4,  to SNU's

SNU started off strong, scoring the first two runs of the game as Brown slugged a homer to left field, sending Embrey in to home plate.

At the top of the second, Northeastern started to carve out their offensive onslaught, picking up five scores to send them ahead 5-2.

Colby Entwistle singled to left field for a Jonathan Crist score, giving SNU another point on the board before the Riverhawks could continue their offensive agenda.

The Storm were scoreless the next couple of innings, leaving Northeastern to put up eight unanswered runs towards the sixth inning.

The Storm got one more trip across the plate in the fifth as Weston Hicks' single gave EJ Taylor the score.

NSU would score once more in the final stretch to make it 14-5, giving them the series finale victory.

Brown showed his efficiency at the plate, going 1-4 that afternoon along with a run and three RBI's. Entwistle also had a great showing at bat, scoring two runs and an RBI, while finishing 2-3.

Taylor finished 1-4 while recording a run while Crist also recorded a run with his 1-2 finish.

Triston Graves started the Storm of at the mound, pitching 2.1 innings, earning a single strikeout. Patrick Hine also got a chance at the bump, pitching 2.0 inings and recording strikeout. Oliver Wilson closed out on the mound with his 2.2 innings and only three runs allowed.
