Storm Fall to Bronchos

4th inning serves UCO well as they propel past SNU 11-1 in Edmond

EDMOND, Okla. —  Before heading to Arkansas this weekend for their first GAC matchup, Southern Nazarene headed 20 minutes North to matchup with Central Oklahoma where they fell 11-1.

Weston Hicks gave SNU (1-8, 0-0 GAC) the early jump as his double down the left-field line sent EJ Taylor home for the score.

The score stayed 1-0 for the next two innings until UCO (5-3, 0-0 MIAA) erupted for nine runs all in the fourth after a couple of home runs and RBI's put the Bronchos ahead 9-1.

UCO's heat diminished in the fifth and sixth, but picked back up once again after they doubled to left for field for two more runs, capping off the game with a final 11-1 reading on the scoreboard.

Hicks led the Storm offense, finishing 1-3 that afternoon while tallying an RBI in the process.

Taylor finished 1-1 and scored SNU's only run.

Noah Ellis, DJ Van Atten, and Drake Irby all finished 1-3 at the plate while Jonathan Crist finished 1-4.

Xavier pitched three full innings for the Storm allowing two runs and tallying one strikeout. Kasen Jackson pitched 1.2 innings, recording two strikeouts and allowing only two runs. Patrick Hine, Cobey Gorrell, and Casey Minchey all came in for relief, combining for a total of 1.1 innings while Gorrell recorded a strikeout.

SNU heads to Ouachita Baptist for a single game Friday, February 18th, starting at 2:00 p.m., and a doubleheader Saturday, February 19th, starting at noon, to begin conference play.
