BETHANY – Southern Nazarene's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Danny Thomason announced on Tuesday that Kenneth Reid has accepted the role of Director of Athletics Communications for SNU Athletics, effective June 1, 2021.
"KJ" Reid has been serving for almost the past two years as a Graduate Assistant in Athletics Communications for SNU and has become a valuable part of the Athletic Department during his assignment.
"Early into his GA tenure, we knew KJ was someone we wanted to keep full-time." said
Danny Thomason. "His character, work ethic, humility, and kindness are things we look for at SNU. I look forward to watching him grow professionally in this role, all while making us better every day."
Over the past two years working in Crimson Storm Athletics, Reid assisted in the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Communications offices. On top of that, his graphic design work for SNU Athletics created excitement and appreciation not only across the SNU campus among student-athletes and staff, but across the Great American Conference with his peers as well. He helped manage all 14 SNU sports participating at once this Spring, as well as keeping up with his graduate degree work.
Starting in June, Reid will assume the Athletics Communications duties that were handled for the past year and a half by Assistant A.D. of Operations
Tanner Stiles. Reid will join forces with Stiles and the soon to be announced Graduate Assistant of Athletics Communications taking over for Reid this Fall. The trifecta will handle all communications, graphic design work, and promotion of SNU Athletics moving forward.
"In my time at Southern Nazarene, I have learned so much about sports communications and the overall culture of the University." Reid said on Tuesday. "I am excited to begin my career at a place that shares similar values to mine."
"We are extremely blessed to have KJ join our department." said Stiles. "His graphic design skills have taken SNU Athletics to a new level and we couldn't have navigated this Spring without him and all his help in Athletics Communications. I'm excited for the future of SNU Athletics and what he can bring to the table."
Reid is a 2019 graduate of Arkansas Tech University and played four years as a linebacker for the Wonder Boys. He was a two-time Great American Conference First Team selection and was also named an All-American in his senior season. Currently pursuing his Masters in Sports Management & Administration, Reid will finish his graduate work this Spring.
