WOODWARD, Okla. – Southern Nazarene's baseball team traveled to Woodward for a non-conference showdown with the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies on Tuesday afternoon. The Crimson Storm (1-12, 1-8 GAC) couldn't overcome a rough start to the game, and as they fell 19-8 to the Aggies (7-15).
After no runs were scored on either side in the first inning, OPSU blew the game wide open in the second, as they started scoring runs in bunches. The Aggies scored eight runs in the top of the second to take an 8-0 lead. The Storm were finally able to get on the scoreboard when
Austin Glock hit a 3-run homer which allowed
Eric Gutierrez,
Jarrett Phillips to score to cut the deficit to 8-3. Later in the inning,
Colby Entwistle hit a missle to center field which scored
Tanner Bare to wrap up the second frame with SNU trailing 8-4.
In the third and fourth innings, the Crimson Storm weren't able to plate any runs as OPSU pushed four more runs across which allowed them to extend their lead to 12-4. In the fifth inning, the Aggies tacked on six more runs which extended their lead even further. SNU finally answered back in the bottom of the fifth when junior
Cole Embrey crushed a solo-home run. Shortly after,
Dylan Scalice hit a single to left field which scored
EJ Taylor for the much needed score as SNU trailed OPSU 18-6 after the fifth inning of play.
Entwistle made another big play in the bottom of the sixth inning as he hit a solo-home run to left field. Later in the inning, Embrey scored on a passed ball. The Aggies controlled the lead 19-8 at the end of the sixth inning and shut out the Storm in the seventh to finish the game. Entwistle had an stellar day as he put together two hits, one run, and 2 RBI.
Austin Glock also had a great day at the dish with three RBI, two hits, and one run.
Cole Embrey was another star in today's game as his stat line read one RBI, two hits, and two runs at game's end.
Elijah Brady earned the start on the mound today for the Crimson Storm as he took his first loss of the season. Brady recorded two strikeouts, but also allowed eight runs.

Kasen Jackson,
Brandon Rezek,
Travis Herriott, and
Adrian Flores all came in relief for SNU from the bullpen. They all combined for two strikeouts in the contest.
Southern Nazarene is back home on Friday to face Arkansas Tech (9-6, 7-2 GAC) for a GAC weekend series. First pitch on Friday from Feland Field is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
