BETHANY – The Southern Nazarene baseball team hosted Arkansas Tech on Friday afternoon at Feland Field looking to get back on track. The Crimson Storm (1-13, 1-9 GAC) struggled to find much success early in the matchup and that continued throughout as they fell 12-1 to the Wonder Boys (10-6, 8-2 GAC) in the first game of the series.
Both teams bats started the game off flat as no runs were scored for the first three innings before Arkansas Tech finally scored a run in the fourth inning to take the lead. The rest of the game went in favor of the Wonder Boys as they would go on to score 12 straight runs.
SNU wouldn't let Arkansas Tech get the shutout as
Cole Embrey hit a ground ball to second base that allowed
Colby Entwistle to score the Storm's only run of the day. Entwistle was a bright spot as he recorded two hits, one of those a triple, and a run scored.
Jacob Owen got the start on the mound for SNU and struck out one batter and only allowed two runs.
Travis Herriott,
Zach Birkle,
Austin Slate,
Adrian Flores, and
Jarrett Phillips all came in relief for the Storm out of the bullpen.
The Crimson Storm will stay in Bethany as they host Arkansas Tech again tomorrow for a doubleheader to conclude the series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. from Feland Field.
