EDMOND, Okla. – The Southern Nazarene Softball team kicked off their 2021 season this afternoon with a doubleheader in the Edmond Regional Festival after not touching the dirt since the COVID-19 outbreak ended last year's season. SNU took on Cameron in the early game and Oklahoma Christian in the nightcap on the first day as they dropped both matchups by score of 4-2 and 2-0.
SNU (0-2, 0-0 GAC) took on the Aggies of Cameron University (1-1, 0-0 LSC) first as they struggled to establish a rhythm in the matchup. CU hopped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held the Storm to zero until a score by Hallie Fellers put Southern Nazarene on the board.
Senior
Brooklyn Sparkman led the way at the plate for Storm as she went 1-for-2 and brought in a runner. Sparkman (L, 0-1) would also grace the mound as she tossed a complete game 7.0 innings, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
Caitlyn Curlee went 1-for-4 at the plate and brought in a runner. Other notables were
Skye Ah Yat who registered two hits on three at-bats while
Sydney Everhart finished 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Sydney Everhart to draw the score closer at 3-2 in the fifth inning. However, the lead was too great as the Aggies would score one more and posting a final score of 4-2.
Game two of the day against Oklahoma Christian (1-0, 0-0 LSC) was a defensive battle as no team crossed the plate until the bottom of the fourth as OC brought the score to 1-0. The Storm would struggle at the plate as
Sydney Sundbye was the only player to collect a hit.
Senior
Chelsea Vandiver (L, 0-1) would take over the reins in the circle as she pitched 6.0 innings and allowed two runs. OCU would score in the bottom of the sixth, leaving the score at 2-0 on the first day of the Edmond Regional Festival.
Southern Nazarene will look to rebound as they battle against Northeastern State (1-0, 0-0 LSC) and Oklahoma Christian (1-0, 0-1 LSC) to round the tournament off. First pitches are set for 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
