BETHANY – One of the most decorated athletes in Southern Nazarene's history is set to begin his professional career as
Jhonathan Dunn signed a 1-year deal with the Landstede Hammers out of the Netherlands. The team announced the signing of the 6-4 guard on Friday.
"I'm really excited to start my professional career," Dunn said on Friday. "It's a great opportunity and I can't wait to be a part of the Hammers."
Just one week removed from being named the 2019-20 Great American Conference Player of the Year for the second time in his career, Dunn travels to Zwolle where he will compete in the Dutch Basketball League, the Dutch top tier division. In 2017, the Hammers captured their first trophy when it won the Dutch Supercup, and Landstede won its first DBL championship in the 2018-19 season and went on to play in the FIBA Europe Cup.
This past season, Dunn became the first two-time GAC Player of the Year in league history as he led the Crimson Storm to a third-straight GAC regular-season championship and helped SNU qualify for a third-straight NCAA Tournament. In the 2019-20 season, he set GAC single-season records for points, points per game, 20-point and 30-point games. He scored at least 20 points in 26 of the Crimson Storm's 32 games.
The guard shattered multiple records throughout the year as he established GAC and SNU career records for points and made field goals. Dunn became the first GAC men's player to reach the 2,000-point milestone and he finished the season ranked third among active Division II players in scoring with 2,359 points. On top of this, he also became SNU's all-time scoring leader as well as the all-time leader in 3-point field goals made.
At the conclusion of the year, D2 Bulletin named Dunn a First-Team All-American for the first time in GAC history and the first time for SNU in the D2 era. He added D2CCA All-America honors and he also became a three-time D2CCA and NABC All-Region selection.
