Storm Fall in Game One to Reddies

SNU dropped their first game of their series against Henderson 11-0 on Friday afternoon.

BETHANY – In the first game back at home after a five-game road stretch, the Crimson Storm couldn't get into an offensive rhythm as they fell 11-0 to the Henderson State Reddies in game one of their weekend series in Bethany.

Southern Nazarene (6-14, 1-6 GAC) held their own in the first couple innings, but the Reddies (8-10, 5-5 GAC) would grab ahold of the reins as they built a 2-0 lead in the top of the 3rd and would not look back. HSU managed to tack on six more runs in the 5th before a three-run 6th inning, giving them a 11-0 lead.

Brett Rexroad would head things on the mound as he faced 24 batters in the 4.2 innings he saw action in, striking out three. Rexroad was given the loss, bringing his season record to 1-3. Zach Birkle would come in as relief for a short while and strikeout one batter. Colten Cassida rounded things off on the rubber for the Crimson Storm as he struck out two batters in 2.0 innings of work.

Clay Lockett and Carlos Michel would go 1-3 and 1-1 at the plate, respectively, as they were the only Storm players to get a hit.

Southern Nazarene will return to action tomorrow at noon, to face Henderson State in a doubleheader at Feland Field.
