Downed by the Lady Bisons

SNU's shooting struggles gives Harding the edge in the 52-43 loss in Searcy.

SEARCY, Ark. - On Thursday evening Southern Nazarene (15-7, 12-6 GAC) took the long road trip to Searcy, Arkansas to face the Lady Bisons of Harding (16-8, 13-5 GAC). The Crimson Storm couldn't keep pace with the Lady Bisons, as the game ended 52-43 in favor of HU. 
 
Shooting woes and turnovers plagued SNU the entire game. The Crimson Storm ended the game shooting just 29.8% from the field and also put together a whopping 20 turnovers. Harding went ahead just 30 seconds into the first and never let go of their lead. SNU was right on the Lady Bisons tail the entire game, but could not take the lead.
 
No one can question the effort from the Crimson Storm as they fought till the final buzzer. They also put the Harding offense in tough situations all game. SNU's lightning-quick defense forced 17 turnovers and only allowed Harding to shoot 29.8% in the game. 
 
Alexus Jones shined for the Storm today as she led her squad with 13 points and also brought down four rebounds. Sonia Sarda also had a solid night as she put up 11 points, six rebounds, and a steal. Kennedy Gillette was a warrior for SNU off the glass as she collected a career-high 15 rebounds. Gillette also had seven points, one steal, and a block. Myriam Garcia was a force defensively for the Crimson Storm with four blocks and two steals. Garcia also contributed seven points. 
 
Southern Nazarene struggled to start the game as Harding led all but 30 seconds of the first quarter. SNU also didn't take care of the ball very well, and ended the first committing 10 turnovers.
 
At the start of the second quarter, the Crimson Storm defense dominated as they forced Harding to shoot just 1-for-9 from the field. SNU continued their defensive supremacy, and only allowed the Lady Bisons to put up a total of nine points in the second. Going into the brak, Southern Nazarene saw themselves down 20-26. 
 
Harding scored the first eight points to start the third quarter, and extended their lead to 14. The Lady Bisons also didn't allow the Crimson Storm to score until four minutes into the quarter as SNU caught themselves behind 32-42 going the fourth quarter. 
 
The Crimson Storm struggled on offense to start the fourth quarter of play, as they only shot 1-for-12 from the field. SNU then put together a 7-0 run, and cut the Lady Bisons' lead down to just five. Unfortunately, Southern Nazarene was never able to breakthrough, and the game ended 52-43.
 
The Crimson Storm will continue their two-game road game stretch as they travel to Russellville to face Arkansas Tech (15-8, 12-7 GAC) on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 pm.
