RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm dropped a pair of softball contests to the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns on Friday at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex, falling 8-0 (5) in game one and 5-2 in the second contest.
In the first game, SNU could not get anything going as they could only muster two hits in five innings as Tech was the ones with the hot bat, using a four run fourth inning to eventually take an 8-0 win in five innings.
Jacey James and
Skye Ah Yat each had a hit on the afternoon while
Brooklyn Sparkman took her first loss of the season.
In the second game, James led off the game with a single and was bunted over by
Kai Sanchez, setting up a two run blast from
Mahina Sauer to give SNU a 2-0 lead.
SNU took that two run lead into the fourth inning before Tech used the long ball to move back ahead, getting a two-run homer in the fourth and a go-ahead three run home run in the sixth to move ahead 5-2. SNU got back-to-back singles to start the seventh, but had nothing to show for as a double play ended the contest and gave SNU their second loss of the day.
James was 2-for-4 with a run scored while Sauer was 1-for-2 with a homer and two RBI. SNU had eight hits in the contest, but could not hold onto the lead. Sparkman (L, 9-2) took her second loss of the day despite a solid six inning effort.
SNU will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon and salvage at least a split with the Golden Suns. The doubleheader will lead off at 12 p.m.
