SNU rolls through ECU 67-60 one the road

ADA, Okla - Southern Nazarene remains perfect on the season as they beat the East Central Tigers 67-60 in Ada. 

SNU (4-0, 2-0 GAC) had another impressive outing as they were again impressive on the defensive side of the ball forcing the Tigers to commit 20 turnovers. In their first GAC road win of the season, the Storm were able to hold the Tigers (1-5, 0-2 GAC) to a 43 percent shooting clip, including 33 percent in the third quarter. SNU out-rebounded ECU 36-32 while the Storm tallied 14 assists in the contest. 

SNU shot 48.8 percent from the floor, slightly higher than their last game, on 21-of-43 shooting. From the arc, the Storm were able to knock down seven triples, coming in at 46.7 percent. Southern Nazarene were also able to make 18 free throws in the contest. 

A few SNU players stuffed the stat sheet today as Junior Abby Niehues recorded a season-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Niehues also brought down eight rebounds and blocked a season-high five shots. Kennedy Gillette continued her hot start to the season scoring an efficient 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Gillette was also perfect from the arc, knocking down three triples. 

Alexus Jones made her money with free-throws as she went 8-of-12 from the charity stripe. Jones also checked in a season high nine rebounds finishing with 13 points in the contest. Jaycee Soap scored eight points on 3-of-5 shooting while hitting a couple three-pointers and taking three steals from the Tigers. Sonia Sarda made defense her mission as she grabbed a team-high four steals and was helpful on the offensive side by dishing out seven assists.

What started out as a neck to neck battle, quickly turned as the Storm outscored the Tigers 20-16 in the second quarter to give them a 35-30 advantage going into halftime. ECU would bounce back and edge SNU in the third, but the 10 personal fouls committed in the fourth gave the Storm the opportunity to close in on their fourth win of the season.

SNU will continue their road trip as they play guest in the San Antonio Classic, facing off against Lubbock Christian on Nov. 29. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
