BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene was in for a long day Monday, with just over two games scheduled for the day. They completed the final two innings of the second game of the series with Northwestern Oklahoma State, as the Storm fell 8-5. They came back and won the next two games, 6-3 and 4-1.

In the first game of the scheduled doubleheader Monday, the Rangers (11-25, 10-20 GAC) took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Crimson Storm (18-22, 14-14 GAC) cut it to 2-1 in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly to right field and then added two more in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead. The Storm added three more runs to their lead in the bottom of the sixth, as
Mahina Sauer doubled to right field that scored
Katelyn Brown to make it 4-2. Later in the inning, Toilolo homered off the scoreboard to push the SNU lead to 6-2, and the Rangers tried to make things interesting in the top of the seventh to extend the game. They pushed one across the plate, but Brown retired the side after that to seal the victory.

Katelyn Brown threw a complete game in the 6-3 win, as the senior struck out eight batters, allowed eight hits, and gave up two earned runs.
Mahina Sauer led the way at the plate for the Crimson Storm, as she went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Kaley Knox and
Reilly Schlarb each notched a couple of hits in the game, as
Katelyn Brown and
Sydni Toilolo each went 1-for-3. SNU tallied 12 hits in the game en route to the victory.

Southern Nazarene got on the board first in the final game of the series by taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Mahina Sauer grounded out to shortstop which scored
Kaley Knox to give the Storm the early lead. Sauer also got the start in the circle for SNU as the sophomore earned her first win of the season. She struck out three batters and allowed one run in 5.2 innings of work.
Katelyn Brown provided 1.1 innings in relief, and struck out one and allowed just one hit.

The Storm added another run in the bottom of the third to push their lead to 2-0, as Shumaker scored on a sacrifice fly from Sauer. They extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth when James doubled to left field to score
Alexis Ramos to make it 3-0, before James scored on a double steal with Shumaker to push it to 4-0.

Northwestern got their bats going in the top of the sixth, as they cut into the SNU lead with one run to make it 4-1. That was the closest the Rangers came however, as Brown earned her second save of the season.

Jacey James fueled the Storm at the plate as the sophomore went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Shumaker finished 1-for-1 with a run scored, while
Kaley Knox went 1-for-2 with a run scored as well.
