BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader with Southwestern Oklahoma State, 10-9 and 6-3.

In the opener, Cole Wagner and Joe Toilolo each went 3-for-5 as Wagner scored a run and Toilolo drove in a run. Cody Tolbert (1-3) took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits in three innings of relief. David Gustafson gave up seven runs, five earned, on six hits. He struck out six in five innings of work after getting the start.

Southwestern took the first lead of the game with one in the top of the first, but the Crimson Storm got that one back in the first at bat of the bottom of the first. Perez hit a leadoff home run to left center to record his first of the season and that tied the game at 1-1.

SNU took the lead in the bottom of the third on a SWOSU error and then added two more in the inning to lead 4-1. The first of the two came on an Austin Cooper sacrifice fly to center before Escobedo singled to left center to score Lee.

The Bulldogs cut it to 4-3 with two in the top of the fourth and then took the lead in the fifth with a two-run home run to left field. SNU answered in the bottom half with a two-run shot to left by Cooper who hit his first home run of the year to give SNU a 6-5 lead.

The Bulldogs though retook the lead in the top of the sixth at 7-6 with two. Vernon knotted the game at 7-7 with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the sixth for his fifth of the year. SWOSU retook the lead in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch at 8-7 and then added two more in the top of the eighth with a home run to lead 10-7.

The Crimson Storm cut it to 10-8 in the bottom of the eighth when Reese hit his second home run of the year with a shot to left field. SNU got it to 10-9 in the ninth with a single through the right side by Toilolo and that put runners at first and third with just one out, but SWOSU's Justin Moreno got two straight outs to end the game.

In the nightcap, SNU put two on the board in the bottom of the first.
