SNU pulled through on its 14th straight win with a victory over Henderson State

BETHANY, Okla. — No. 12/14 Southern Nazarene's streak moved to 14 straight games Saturday with a 72-64 win over Henderson State.

The Crimson Storm's (18-1, 15-0 GAC) magic number to win the Great American Conference outright now sits at three.

Jhonathan Dunn led the way with a game-high 23 points and seven rebounds. The sophomore was 8-for-17 from the field and 5-for-5 at the line. Micah Speight also had 15 points and six assists to go with two steals.  He was 4-for-8 from the floor and 2-for-4 from 3-point range. He also went 5-for-6 at the stripe. Quaylon Newton posted 10 rebounds and eight points along with two blocks. Chris Stephens, Noah Starkey, Zach Johnson and Ashton Charles all scored six points.

Southern Nazarene shot 41.4 percent from the field and went 9-for20 from 3-point range. After struggling from the line Thursday night, SNU bounced back with a 15-for-18 spot at the charity stripe Saturday. The Storm held the Reddies (11-10, 6-9 GAC) to just 20-for-56 from the field and 4-for-13 from deep.

The two changed leads six times through the first 10 minutes of the game before a Johnson trey ignited a 17-6 run to give SNU a 29-19 lead with 3:13 to play. The Storm pushed the lead to 36-24 at the half as they ended the final 10 minutes of the half on a 24-13 run.

That was the largest lead of the night though for SNU as they matched it three more times with the final one coming at 47-35 with 14:11 left to play in the game. The Reddies then went on a 16-2 run to take its first lead since 10:52 mark in the first half at 51-49 with 7:09 remaining.

That lead lasted less than a minute as SNU tied it with a pair of Speight free throws and a Newton dunk gave the Storm the lead for good. While SNU never gave the lead back, it didn't pull away until late.
