Eight is Great

Storm win eighth straight with win at East Central

ADA, Okla. — No. 21 Southern Nazarene got 36 points from its bench, including a career-high 14 from Ashton Charles, in an 85-66 win over East Central Saturday.
 
The Crimson Storm (12-1, 9-0 GAC) have won eight straight games, six on the road, and are off to their best start since the 2003-04 team went 13-0.
 
Charles was perfect from the floor as the freshman went 4-for-4 from the field with three of those coming from behind the arc. He was also 3-for-4 from the line and added six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Coleman Edwards also added 10 points off of the bench as he was 3-for-6 from 3-point range.
 
Micah Speight had a game-high 18 points as he went 7-for-9 from the field and 2-for-4 from deep. Jhonathan Dunn had 12 points, four rebounds and three assists as he shot 5-for-10 from the field.
 
The Storm as a team fired 58.8 percent from the field and went 9-for-16 from 3-point range. It was the 10th time this year SNU shot at least 50 percent from the field and the fourth straight game. They also shot 16-for-22 at the line. The Storm out rebounded the Tigers (8-4, 6-2 GAC) 38-26 and had 28 points in the paint combed to 16 from ECU.
 
There were five lead changes early in the game before SNU went on a 6-0 run to lead 12-7 just six minutes into the game. The Storm led by as much as nine in the first half and were up 24-15 before the Tigers cut it to 25-21 midway through the first half. The Storm got a Chris Stephens layup that sparked a 19-2 run as SNU led 46-25 before taking a 46-28 lead at the half.
 
The Tigers cut it to 46-31 early in the second half, but the Tigers came no closer the rest of the way. SNU pushed it to 77-53 with 4:23 left to take its biggest lead of the game and coasted from there.
