BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene is off to one of its best starts in school history and matched the Great American Conference record for the best start with a 72-46 over Oklahoma Baptist Monday night.

The Crimson Storm (13-1, 10-0) matched last year's record set by Arkansas-Monticello who went on to tie for the GAC regular season title. It was also the lowest point total SNU has allowed all year. It is the 11
th straight win at home for the Crimson Storm and the ninth straight overall.

Quaylon Newton notched his second double-double of the year with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He went 7-for-11 from the field. He nearly had a double-double in the first half as he had nine points and eight rebounds.

Jhonathan Dunn added 15 points and six rebounds to go with a pair of assists and two steals. He was 5-for-8 from the floor and 3-for-5 from downtown.
Noah Starkey also had 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal.
R.J. Palmer added nine points off of the bench.

SNU shot at least 50 percent from the field for the 11
th game this year and the fifth consecutive as it went 29-for-58 from the field. The Storm were held to just four treys on the night, but held the Bison to 2-for-31 shooting from deep. The Bison hit 14-for-61 from the field. The Storm also dominated the paint with 44 in the lane, compared to just 20 for OBU.

Oklahoma Baptist jumped out to a 6-2 lead early, but Starkey sparked a 19-5 run to put SNU up 21-11 with 9:43 left in the first half and never looked back. The Crimson Storm stretched their lead to 37-14 before taking a 39-17 lead at the break. It was the least amount of points SNU has allowed in a half since joining Division II.

Southern Nazarene pushed the lead to 28 twice in the second half, but the Bison started to chip away at the lead. SNU led 51-23 when OBU used a 14-4 run to cut it to 55-37 with 8:12 remaining. The Storm answered with a 12-4 run, capped by a Dunn trey, to lead 67-41 with 5:01 left and seal it.
