SNU won 8-4 in the opener and 6-3 the second game to SOSU

DURANT, Okla. — After starting the first game in Bethany and finishing the game in Durant, Southern Nazarene came away with a 8-4 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State in the opener and a 6-3 win in the nightcap Thursday night.

Southeastern Oklahoma State struck first as they were able to put up two runs in the first. Southern Nazarene (17-27, 13-19 GAC) answered back in the bottom of the first. The Crimson Storm took a selective approach to the plate to start the game as the first three batter drew walks. With the bases loaded, a Riley Brown double tied the game up at 2-2 as both Jacey James and Katelyn Brown scored. Hannah LeBeau made it a 3-2 game after hitting a sacrifice fly to deep center to score Mahina Sauer. Then a Sam Smith double to left center scored Riley Brown to give the Storm a 4-2 lead.

A James home run in the second made it a 5-2 game. James' third home run of the season and her third home run in the last four games. The Storm added one more run in the third as a Kai Sanchez sacrifice fly to center was able to score Kendal Stockstill. SNU led 6-2 going into the top of the fourth.

The Savage Storm were able to load the bases up and score a run in the fourth before the rain sent the game into a weather delay. The game picked up in Durant where the Storm were able to limit the Savage Storm's damage to just one run. Headed to the bottom of the fourth, Southern Nazarene led 6-3.

The Storm added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth as RBI triples from Riley Brown and Sam Smith made it an 8-3 game.

Riley Brown went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and three RBIs. James went 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks.

In the nightcap, Southern Nazarene wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. James led the inning off with a walk and came around to score after Katelyn Brown tripled to center. Brown came into score after Sauer grounded into a fielder's choice. SNU led 2-0 through one.
