Panhandle Sweeps Storm

Southern Nazarene loses two in Goodwell

GOODWELL, Okla. — Mike Descisciolo went a combined 7-for-8 with nine RBIs and five runs scored for Southern Nazarene in a doubleheader loss to Oklahoma Panhandle State.
 
The Storm fell 25-5 in the opener before losing 16-15 in the second game.
 
In the opener the 3-5 spots in the lineup combined to go 6-for-10 with three RBIS and two runs scored, but that was two-thirds of the Storm's hits. Mike Descisciolo went 2-for-3 with two RBIS and two run scored. Tyler Stevens went 2-for-3 while Cobi Ceron went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
 
SNU took a 3-0 lead out of the gate with two in the first and one in the top of the second. The first run came in on a Descisciolo single to center that scored Dillon Feland before Descisciolo scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Anthony Wiggins. Jefferson Harris then led off the second with a solo shot to left.
 
The Aggies though scored five in the bottom half of the second and nine in the bottom of the third and the route was on. SNU added one in the top of the fifth on Descisciolo double to center that scored Feland and pushed the final run across in the seventh on a Ceron single to third that scored Descisciolo.
 
OPSU scored two in the bottom of the fifth and put the finishing touches on the game with nine in the sixth.
 
Wiggins (0-4) took the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits in 1.1 innings of work.
 
The Storm struck first in the nightcap with three in the top of the first. Descisciolo drove home the first rum with a single to left before Preston Whitmill drove home two more with a single. SNU unloaded in the second with five runs to lead 8-1. Descisciolo ripped a 3-run double down the left field line to make it 6-1 before Stevens drove home Descisciolo with a double to left center. Stevens then scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Wiggins.
 
OPSU scored one in the bottom of the second, but SNU answered in the top of the third on a Garrett Perez double to right center to lead 9-2. The Storm added two more in the fifth with on a bases loaded hit by a pitch and another Wiggins sacrifice fly to lead 11-2.
 
It then started to unravel for the Storm. The Aggies scored seven I the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 11-9, but SNU scored four more in the top of the sixth to push it to 15-9. OPSU scored one in the sixth and then got six in the seventh to walk away with the win.
 
Descisciolo went 5-for-5 with seven RBIs and three runs scored. Feland went 4-for-5 with four runs scored while Perez went 3-for-4 with two RBIS and three run scored. Stevens also drive in a pair of runs and scored two while going 2-for-3. The top four of the lineup combined for 14 of SNU's hits.
 
Descisciolo (0-2) took the loss after giving up seven runs on five hits in 1.2 innings of relief.
