Storm Fall At Arkansas Tech

Southern Nazarene drops to 5-7 in conference play

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Southern Nazarene falls 74-62 at Arkansas Tech Thursday night.
 
Callee Mason led the Crimson Storm (8-8, 5-7 GAC) in scoring with 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Adrienne Berry was the only other SNU player to reach double figures as she scored 15 points and added four rebounds. 
 
Arkansas Tech jumped out to an early eight-point lead, as they led the Crimson Storm 21-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Suns were able to extend their lead to ten points by the end of the second quarter to put the score at 38-28 at the end of the first half. The Storm shot 40.7 percent on 11-of-27 shooting and 2-for-7 from behind the 3-point line in the first half. Arkansas Tech shot 53.3 percent on 16-of-30 shooting.
 
SNU outscored the Golden Suns in the third quarter 14-13, putting the score at 51-42 at the end of the quarter. Mason led the Storm in scoring in the quarter as she scored seven points.
 
The Storm were able to get within six points in the fourth quarter after Mason hit a pair of free throws to put the score at 51-45 with 9:43 remaining in regulation. That's as close as the Storm would get though as Arkansas Tech went on to build their largest lead of the game at 16 points with the score at 74-58 with 3:32 remaining in regulation. SNU cut the lead down to 12 with the final score Arkansas Tech 74, Southern Nazarene 62.
 
The Storm finished the game shooting 44.4 percent on 24-of-54 shooting. SNU was ice cold from behind the arc as they finished the game shooting 3-of-18 for 16.7 percent from behind the 3-point line. The Storm also got out rebounded 38-25 and also gave up 15 points off of turnovers.
