East Central hits last-second shot to upend Storm

ADA, Okla. — East Central's Tia Williams hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer to hold off Southern Nazarene for a 71-69 win Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson Storm (11-12, 8-11 GAC) trailed by as much as six late as they were down 66-60 with 3:05 left to play. SNU cut it to 66-64 on a pair of Adrienne Berry jumpers and eventually cut it to 68-67 on an Abby Boyd free throw with 44 seconds. The Tigers pushed it to 69-67, but Danielle Gaddis tied it at 69 with 15 seconds remaining. That set up Williams' heroics to hold off SNU.

Callee Mason had a team-high 18 points off of bench as she was 4-for-13 from the field and 2-for-5 from 3-point range. The senior was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Mason added six rebounds too. Berry finished with 15 points as she was also perfect at the line at 8-for-8. Gaddis was just two rebounds short of a double-double with eight as she scored 13 points as well. Sidney Carolina pulled down 10 rebounds and added six points.

SNU went 23-for-27 at the line, but shot just 38.9 percent from the field and went 4-for-15 from 3-point range. The Crimson Storm turned the ball over 24 times and gave up 26 points off turnovers. The Tigers (12-12, 11-9 GAC) shot 42.6 percent from the field and went 13-for-23 from downtown.
