Storm Fall to No. 23 UCO

Central Oklahoma edges Southern Nazarene 72-56

EDMOND, Okla. — In the final game before Christmas, Southern Nazarene shot 3-for-18 from three-point range in a 72-56 loss to #23 Central Oklahoma on Tuesday night.

The Bronchos (11-1) entered the game on a five-game winning streak, while the Crimson Storm (3-5) looked to snap a four-game losing streak. SNU's defense held UCO to just a 31 percent shooting night, but allowed them to attempt 29 free throws. The Storm shot 38 percent from the field, and turned the ball over 15 times as the Bronchos tallied 22 points off the SNU turnovers.

Adrienne Berry led the way for Southern Nazarene as the junior scored 14 points and added four rebounds. Alexus Jones and Abby Niehues each notched eight points and seven rebounds, while Irene Perez added seven points for the Storm.

SNU jumped off to a quick 8-0 lead in the first quarter, and expanded it to double-digits as UCO finally got their first basket of the game with 4:24 left in the period. The Storm went on to take a 20-12 lead into the second quarter.

After Southern Nazarene gained their largest lead of the game at 14 early in the second, Central Oklahoma went on an 8-0 run to get right back in it. They outscored the Storm 18-10 in the period, as the game was tied 30-30 heading into halftime.

After going 0-10 from 3-point range in the first half, UCO flipped the switch and knocked down seven threes in the second half. The Storm missed all five of their three-point attempts as they were outscored 22-13 in the third, and trailed by nine heading into the fourth.

SNU battled in the fourth, as it was just a two-point game after Berry made a layup with 6:59 left. That was the closest the Crimson Storm came though, as the Bronchos went on a 19-5 run to close and win their sixth-straight game.
