Tigers Topple Storm

Ouachita nips Southern Nazarene in fourth

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene led for more than three quarters, but couldn't hold off Ouachita Baptist in a 21-14 loss at home.

The Crimson Storm (3-4, 3-4 GAC) are still searching for that first home win of the year, but inched closer once again as it led until the 6:35 mark in the fourth quarter. SNU had just one drive after that and got it down to the Ouachita 29-yard line, but Jacob Spady fumbled on first down and the Tigers (5-2, 5-2 GAC) never gave the ball back.

Southern Nazarene struck first in the game with 5:15 left in the first when Spady finished off a 9-play, 72-yard drive, with a 21-yard rush to give SNU a 7-0 lead. The Tigers answered right before the end of the first to tie it at 7-7.

Southern Nazarene retook the lead at 14-7 with 1:33 left in the half on a 9-yard run by Jacob Spady. That capped a 12-play, 69-yard drive. Ouachita answered less than a minute later with a 42-yard field goal to cut the lead to 14-10 at the half. The Tigers closed it to 14-13 with 2:36 left in the third quarter on their second straight field goal.

Ouachita though got the final say with 6:35 left to play on the first play of a drive with a 65-yard strike to take their first and final lead of the game.
