MONTICELLO, Ark. — Southern Nazarene stood tied 14-14 with Arkansas-Monticello late in the first half before a two-and-a-half hour delay due to inclement weather. After the delay, UAM outscored SNU 21-9 to pick up the 35-23 win Saturday.

The Weevils (5-3, 5-3 GAC) handed the Storm (3-5, 3-5 GAC) their first loss on the road and the third straight overall. SNU gave up 417 total yards from UAM as the Weevils ran for 290 and threw for 127. The Storm ran for 98 and threw for 65 for a total of 163.

Jacob Spady threw for 65 yards on 10-of-22 passing and led the team in rushing with 38 yards and a touchdown on 19 attempts.
Reid Roelofs and
Nate Walker each had two catches as Roelofs had 23 yards and a touchdown while
Nate Walker had 20 yards receiving.

Anthony Stephens had 11 tackles while
Josh Jordan had 10.
Trystan Slinker had nine tackles, two for a loss, and a sack.

The Weevils took the first lead of the game with 10:47 left in the first, but the Storm answered on the next drive to tie it at 7-7. SNU needed to go just 37 yards after a short kickoff and a UAM penalty. The Storm used five plays before Spady punched it in from two yards out.

UAM pushed it to 14-7 with 5:41 left in the first, but
Daniel Ramos III helped tie the game with 10:08 left in the second on a 2-yard run, but then came the delay.

After the delay, the Weevils scored twice in just over five minutes in the second quarter to take a 28-14 lead in the half and then pushed it to 35-14 with 1:02 remaining in the third.

Spady connected with Roelofs for an 11-yard touchdown after the Storm started the drive with good position after a big return by
Jakel Davis and a UAM penalty. SNU had to go just 29 yards on nine plays to cut the score to 35-21 with 11:24 to play.

SNU began to march on its next possession and got it down to the UAM 20-yard line, but two sacks made it third-and-23 for the Storm. Spady though got picked off and UAM was able to run all but five seconds off the clock and took a safety and the end of its drive to put the final score on the board for the Storm.
