Storm Blow By Blossoms

Southern Nazarene got its first conference win of the season

MONTICELLO, Ark. — Southern Nazarene started off the new calendar year with its first conference win of the season with an 82-65 win over Arkansas-Monticello Thursday night.

The game started in a back and forth fashion as both teams traded baskets in the opening four minutes to put the score at 10-9 in favor of Arkansas-Monticello (4-5, 1-4 GAC). The Cotton Blossoms would put together an 8-3 run to put the score at 18-12 with 2:44 remaining in the first quarter. The Storm (4-5, 1-4 GAC) answered that run with one of their own as SNU scored the final five points of the quarter, highlighted by an Abby Boyd jumper to put the score at 18-17 to the end the first quarter.

The second quarter belonged to Southern Nazarene as they opened the quarter on a 12-4 run to put the score at 29-20 with 6:11 remaining in the first half.
