DURANT, Okla. — Southern Nazarene salvaged its second straight split with a 6-4 loss at Southeastern Oklahoma State before it picked up a 9-7 victory in the second game.

Southern Nazarene (18-22, 11-19 GAC) played catch up the entire game in the opener as every time it tried to answer, Southeastern was there to thwart any rally. The Savage Storm put two on the board in the bottom of the third to jump out in first 2-0 before a
Jessica Thompson single to center made it 2-1. Southeaster pushed it to 3-1 in the bottom half the inning, but SNU got a solo home run from
Katelyn Brown to cut it to 3-2 in the fifth. It was the sophomore's second of the year.

Southeastern though got three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to push it to 6-2. The Crimson Storm tried to rally in the sixth with two earned runs to cut it to 6-4, but that was as close as they came. SNU also left two on in the top of the seventh.

Sam Smith and Thompson each went 2-for-3 as Smith scored a run while Thompson drov in one. Brown and Logan Sundby each went 2-for-4.

Kayla Wyatt took the loss after giving up six runs, five earned, on seven hits in four innings of work. She struck out five and walked three.

The nightcap turned into more of a slugfest as both Storms combined for 16 runs on 17 hits.

Six different SNU players had hits as
Kyndall Freer-Christopher and
Hope Martin led the way as each went 2-for-3. Freer-Christopher drove in a run and scored one while Martin had two RBIs and two runs scored. After coming in relief in the bottom of the fourth, Wyatt (12-10) picked up the win after throwing the final 3.2 innings. She gave up just two hits and struck out five.

The Crimson Storm took advantage of two big innings with three in the second an five in the fourth. SNU took a 3-0 lead in the second thanks to back-to-back doubles by Freer-Christopher and Martin and then a SOSU error. The Savage Storm cut it to 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning and then tied it in the third with two more. SNU tried to break the game with a huge top of the fourth. After a pair of singles to lead off the inning, a Martin double made it 4-3 before a three run shot to right by Smith made it 7-3 and gave Smith her 10
th home run of the season. In the next at bat Clemence drilled her first home run of the year to push it to 8-3.

Southeastern though scored three in the bottom of the fourth to make it 8-7. SNU got one more insurance run in the top of the seventh on a Sundbye double down the right field line before Wyatt iced it.
