Reddies Complete Series Sweep

SNU fell 14-3 in its final home game of the season

BETHANY, Okla. — Playing its last home game of the season, Southern Nazarene was unable to end on a good note, losing 14-3 to Henderson State.

The Crimson Storm (8-34, 5-22 GAC) fell behind early, allowing the Reddies to score in the top of the first inning for the third consecutive game. Jordan Taylor put the Reddies on the board with a solo home run that snuck just inside the left field foul pole.

SNU fought back once again, just as it had in the first two games. After Mike Descisciolo walked and moved to third on a single by Josh Matelsky, Descisciolo stole home to tie the game.

It was all Henderson from that point, as HSU scored the next 13 runs of the game, with nine coming in the top of the third. Southern Nazarene tried to fight at the end, putting up two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Ryan Tucker singled to left field to score Anthony Wiggins, then Descisciolo scored on a double play, but that was as close as SNU would get.

Descisciolo (1-4) started on the bump for the Crimson Storm and surrendered nine runs on seven hits and two walks. Matelsky and Shelby Reese each had two hits for the Crimson Storm, with Wiggins adding a double as the only extra-base hit for SNU.

After allowing 14 runs in the series finale, Southern Nazarene gave up 37 runs in the three-game series against Henderson State. That is the most runs SNU has given up in any conference series this season.
