BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene saw its three-game winning streak snapped as it dropped a 10-4 contest to Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Â
The Crimson Storm (7-24, 5-14 GAC) held a 3-0 lead after the first two innings, but saw that lead quickly disappear. SNU scored two runs in the bottom of the first with
Mike Descisciolo driving in
Garrett Perez with a single for the first run of the game. Descisciolo scored two batters later as
Shelby Reese singled up the middle to make it 2-0. SNU added a run in the third when Perez singled to right field to score
Austin Cooper, but left the bases loaded and missed an opportunity to add on to their lead.
Â
Southeastern began chipping away, scoring one run in each of the next three innings to tie the game. The Savage Storm took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth, then iced the game with four runs in the seventh and another in the eighth.
Â
Southern Nazarene tried to mount a comeback in the ninth, but it was too little too late. Perez recorded his third hit of the game with another single to right field to score Webster to make it 10-4, but that was as close as SNU would get.
Â
Mason Pinion (0-7) started on the mound for Southern Nazarene and went five innings while giving up five runs, just two being earned. He surrendered seven hits and did not walk a batter while striking out one.
Dante Archuleta,
Matthew Plummer, and
Connor Berry combined to pitch three innings of relief while giving up just one run on two hits.
Â
Perez and Descisciolo led the way at the plate for SNU as each recorded three hits. Perez added a run and two RBIs, while Descisciolo tacked on a run and an RBI.
Gaige Webster extended his hitting streak to three games as he went 2-for-5 with a run scored. The Crimson Storm matched Southeastern with 12 hits on the day, but surrendered five unearned runs on three errors.
