Savage Trumps Crimson

Southern Nazarene falls at Southeastern Oklahoma State

DURANT, Okla. — Adrienne Berry and Abby Boyd combined for 31 points as Southern Nazarene fell 73-70 at Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon.
 
The loss ends the Crimson Storm's hopes of reaching the Great American Conference Championships as they are three games back of eighth place with two games left.
 
Berry and Boyd combined for eight 3-pointers as each hit four. Berry finished with 16 points and four rebounds while Boyd had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists. Kandyce Freeman and Ashleigh Hutchings each had eight points off of the bench.
 
The Storm (6-17, 5-15 GAC) shot 36.8percent from the field and went 11-for-27 from 3-point range. SNU had 15 points off of seven Savage Storm (13-13, 11-9 GAC) turnovers, but SOSU went 25-for-34 at the line.
 
Neither team led by more than 10 the entire night and exchanged nine leads in the first half alone. The biggest lead in the first half was four and that was three times by SOSU who took a 36-32 lead at the half. Southeastern Led 38-32 early in the third when SNU went on a 12-3 run capped by a Boyd trey to lead 44-41.
 
The Savage Storm scored nine straight though to lead 50-44 and took a 53-50 lead into the fourth quarter. Southern Nazarene cut it to 53-52 with 9:35 to play, but SOSU went on a 10-1 run to take its biggest lead of the game at 63-53. Southeastern led 68-58 with 3:24 to play, but SNU went on a 12-2 run to tie it at 70 on a Chelseah Savage trey.
 
On the next possession though, Southeastern completed a traditional 3-point play to take a 73-70 lead and closed it from there.
