CANYON, Texas — Southern Nazarene went on a late 9-0 run to tie the game up at 70-70, but a 3-point shot hit by Eastern New Mexico with four seconds left game the Greyhounds a 76-73 victory Saturday afternoon.

LB Willis and
Brady Mulkey both scored in double figures, combining for 25 points and 8 rebounds for the Crimson Storm (2-3, 1-1 GAC). Willis led SNU in scoring with 13 points and added five rebounds, six assists and five steals. He went 3-for-11 from the field and 1-for-5 from beyond the arc. He was also 6-for-10 from the free-throw line. Mulkey had 12 points and three rebounds as he was 2-for-3 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the 3-point line. He also went 6-for-6 at the line.

SNU as a team struggled shooting the ball on the afternoon as they shot 39.6 percent from the field and 7-for-24 from 3-point range for 29.2 percent. The Storm spent a lot of time at the line as they shot 24-for-34 from the free throw line. Southern Nazarene couldn't control the paint as they were outrebounded 45-32 and outscored in the paint 42-24. Eastern New Mexico shot 45.3 percent from the field and were able to scored 23 second chance points and 21 points off of SNU turnovers. The Storm forced 22 turnovers and had 18 points off those miscues.

The Greyhounds (2-3) led by as much as 15 in the second half as they were up 54-39 with 10:46 left to play in the game. The Storm were able to fight their way back to within six points on multiple occasions in the closing ten minutes of the game, however they found themselves down 70-61 with 4:30 remaining to play. SNU then went on a 9-0 run capped by a Willis free throw to tie the game at 70-70 with 57 seconds remaining in the game. The Greyhounds retook the lead at 73-70 after Chris Wyms completed and old-fashion three point play after being fouled on a layup and sinking the free throw afterwards to give ENMU the lead with 18 seconds left to play. Willis was able to tie the game up again 73-73 after he sank his only 3-pointer of the game with 11 seconds left in regulation. Neal Cornell spoiled the Storm's comeback when he hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left in the game, putting the score at 76-73 in favor of Eastern New Mexico. Willis was able to get off a 3-point shot to try tie the game up and send the game into overtime, but the shot found the back of the rim, giving the Storm a tough loss.Â
