Storm Drive by the Drovers

Adrienne Berry led all scorers with 20 points in 80-68 win over Science and Arts of Oklahoma

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene used the help of four players scoring in double-figures to propel the Crimson Storm to an 80-68 win over Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Homecoming night.
 
Southern Nazarene ended the first quarter trailing USAO 22-21. The Drovers shot 40 percent on 8-of-20 shooting. The Storm shot 33.3 percent from the field on 7-of-21 shooting. The Crimson Storm took 10 3-point shots in the opening quarter, making 3-for-10. Tierra Coffey led all scorers in the first ten minutes with eight points.
 
The Storm fell behind early in the second quarter as USAO led 40-33 with 2:32 remaining in the first half. SNU answered the Drovers when Callee Mason hit an open 3-point shot in transition. Madeline Schroepfer then stole the inbounds pass for a quick layup for the Storm. Mason capped the Storm's 13-1 run with another three-pointer to end the half, giving SNU a 46-41 lead.
 
Southern Nazarene shot 35.7 percent for the first half on 15-42 shooting, while USAO shot 40 percent on 16-40 shooting. Abby Boyd and Berry led the Storm in scoring as they both finished the first half with nine points.
 
The Crimson Storm came into the second half firing on all cylinders, as they were able to distance themselves from the Drovers. SNU built a 11-point lead, which put the score at 66-55 at the end of the third quarter. SNU made eight of the 17 shots they took, shooting 47.1 percent from the field. Berry tacked on ten more points in the third quarter to give her 19 through three quarters of play. SNU held USAO to 23.5 percent from the field and 1-6 from three-point range in the third quarter.
 
Southern Nazarene cooled off in the fourth quarter as the Storm shot 25 percent of 5-20 shooting. The Storm defense stepped up though and held the Drovers to 26.7 percent shooting on 4-15 shooting.
 
SNU finished the game with 30 points in the paint, 21 points off of turnovers and 13-second chance points. The Storm also got a boost from the bench as the bench scored 32 points on the night, Berry led all scorers with 20 points, and she also added four rebounds. Boyd, Mason, and Sidney Carolina all scored twelve points.
