Kicking the Mules

Southern Nazarene swept Southern Arkansas to get back in the win column in GAC play

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene found the groove for second straight night as it pulled off another sweep, but got this one in conference play over Southern Arkansas, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-14).

Vought also had 10 digs and six kills, McKayla Benner had two blocks to go with nine kills and a .389 hitting percentage. Elyse Berlin finished with 30 assists and 11 digs as she added a block and an aces as well.

The Muleriders jumped off to an early 2-0 lead in the second set, the only lead they would have the entire set. The Storm went on a 9-2 run capped by a Bowie kill to give SNU a 9-4 lead. SAU went on a 5-3 run to bring the set to 12-9, but that was the closest the Muleriders got to the Storm the rest of the set. SNU finished the set on a 13-9 run capped by a Vought kill.

It was all Storm in the final set. SNU jumped out to a 14-7 lead when Qualls stepped behind the line and helped the Storm rattle off six straight to lead 20-7 and SNU cruised from there.
