BETHANY, Okla. — Two days after recording its lowest shooting percentage of the season, the Southern Nazarene defense gave up a season-high 91 points in a 91-77 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State.

The Crimson Storm (4-10, 3-8 GAC) fell behind early, as SOSU used a 12-0 run in the first quarter to jump out to an 18-6 lead. The Savage Storm shot 56.3 percent in the opening frame while going 4-of-5 from 3-point range.

The SNU defense came alive in the second period, as it held Southeastern to 31.6 percent shooting and 2-of-9 in the second frame. Unfortunately, the Crimson Storm could not take advantage of the cold streak. SNU shot 40 percent for the second quarter and 36.7 percent for the first half, en route to a 39-27 deficit at the half.
LaShabra Plunkett led the Crimson Storm at half with seven points, while chipping in four rebounds.

The offense picked up in the third quarter, as Southern Nazarene scored 22 points in the third quarter on 8-of-18 shooting. However, Southeastern picked up the pace as well, as it scored 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting in the quarter. By the end of the third quarter, SNU trailed the Savage Storm 63-49 and had no players in double-figures scoring.

Southern Nazarene fought back in the final quarter, with the offense coming alive to shoot 50 percent from the field. The Crimson Storm started the final period on a 13-4 run, with a
Kandyce Freeman and-one narrowing the lead down to nine with six minutes to play. This was as close as SNU got, as Southeastern answered with a 9-2 run to put the game out of reach.

Abby Boyd led the Crimson Storm in scoring with 15 points on the day while throwing in three assists as well. Freeman, Plunkett, and
Danielle Gaddis each ended with double-digits in the scoring column, with Gaddis recording her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go with two assists and two blocks. SNU got a huge boost from its bench, as it outscored the Southeastern bench 36-23. Turnovers plagued the Crimson Storm, as they committed 17 on the game, which led to 27 Savage Storm points.Â
