AUSTIN, Texas — Southern Nazarene closed out its opening weekend with a 3-1 (25-18, 24-26, 25-16, 25-19) before falling 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20) to Missouri S&T.

Four players finished with double-figure kills for SNU in the first match as
McKenna Qualls led the way with 14. The junior added 15 digs for her second double-double of the season and posted a career-high six aces.
Courtney Bowie had 13 kills and hit .379 while
Kaitlyn Vought and
McKayla Benner each had 10 kills. Vought added 15 digs and three blocks while Benner had five blocks.

Elyse Berlin recorded 44 assists and 14 digs along with a block.
Abbey Bell posted 15 digs along with two aces and three assists as well.

The Storm had six team blocks and hit .289 (60-12-152). The four players with double-figure digs also combined for 59 of SNU's 72 digs as a team.

In the second match, the Storm was held to a .069 (27-20-102) clip and did not register a block. The Miners recorded 10.5 blocks and hit .221 on the day. Qualls and Bowie led the way for SNU with six kills each while Berlin had 22 assists. Qualls also had nine digs and two aces.
Hannah Davis and Bell each had 10 digs while Vought had seven digs.
