BETHANY, Okla. — It's tough to ask much better than 34 assists in a three-set match, but
Elyse Berlin orchestrated a clean sweep for Southern Nazarene in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-23) win over Northwestern Oklahoma State.
Â
The win by the Crimson Storm (6-10, 2-2 GAC) snapped a five-game skid and put SNU back at .500 in the Great American Conference. Berlin added five digs, two kills and an ace on the night and got a big night out of
Abbey Bell who had 21 digs. Kaitlyn Vout also came up big with 16 digs to go with eight kills and two blocks.
Â
McKayla Benner and
McKenna Qualls each had nine kills on the night and both hit over .300. Benner tallied five blocks as well.
Lexie Matthews added three blocks and had six kills while
Courtney Bowie had seven kills and three blocks.
Â
The Stop hit .300 (12-3-30) in the first set and used a 7-1 run midway through the first to cruise to a 1-0 lead. Northwestern had a 3-point lead on a couple of occasions in the second set, and were up 17-14 when Benner sparked a 6-1 run to give the Storm a 20-18 lead. The two were tied at 23 when a service error gave set point to the Storm and Benner put it away for a 2-0 lead. The Rangers held a late lead in the third at 21-17, but Vout ignited an 8-2 run to close out the set.
