DURANT, Okla. — Southern Nazarene looked to be cruising for a pair of 3-0 sweeps after it beat Oklahoma Panhandle State, 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-7), and was up 2-0 on Texas A&M Commerce, but ran out of gas late. Commerce battled back for a 3-2 (15-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-8) win over SNU.

McKayla Benner and
McKenna Qualls each had a nine kills as both hit over .400 against OPSU. Benner ripped a .412 percentage while Qualls hit .500. Each had two blocks and four digs while Benner had an ace and Qualls had three.
Abbey Bell had a career-high four aces and had a team-high 12 digs.
Elyse Berlin also had 28 assists.

SNU as a team hit .264 (33-10-87) and had five team blocks. The Storm also had 46 digs.

Against Commerce, SNU held the Lions under a .100 clip in the first two sets while the Storm hit .345 in the first and .186 in the second. The roles got reversed though in the final three sets. Commerce hit .205, .387 and .400 in the final three sets while holding SNU to .000, .171 and .043 down the stretch. Both teams finished with 53 kills, but the Storm had eight more attacking errors for a .147 percentage while Commerce closed at .196. SNU out dug the Lions 86-82, but got out blocked 9-7.

Qualls finished with an SNU career-high 20 kills and added 11 digs, two aces and two blocks. Benner was also in double-figure kills with 10 and had three blocks as well. Berlin nearly had a triple-double with 42 assists, 11 digs and eight kills. Kaitlyn Vaught and
Hannah Davis combined for four aces and 38 digs. Each had a pair of aces while Davis had 26 digs and Vaught had 12. Vaught also had three blocks. Bell finished with a game-high 26 digs.

The Storm move to 3-5 on the year and will open up Great American Conference play Tuesday night as they play in the Sawyer Center for the first time this year.Â
