MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Southern Nazarene split a Sunday twin bill with Southern Arkansas with an 8-3 win in the opener before losing 11-3 in the nightcap

The Muleriders (22-19, 12-15 GAC) jumped out in front early with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first, but the Crimson Storm (17-24, 13-16) cut it to 3-2 in the top of the third on back-to-back singles by
Sam Smith and
Jessica Thompson. The Storm tied it in the top of the fourth when
Kylie Lang singled through the right side to score Trystan Short and then took their first lead o the game when Brown ripped a two-run single to left center to put SNU on top 5-3.

The Storm added three more insurance in the top of the seventh to push it to 8-3.
Alyssa Hughes drove in the first run of the inning with a double to right center. Clemence then drew a bases loaded walk before
Allie Baird drove in the final run with a ground out to second.

Jessica Thompson went a career-high 4-for-4 in the opener with an RBI and a run scored. Lang and
Katelyn Fischer each went 2-for-3 with a run scored. SNU as a team had 13 hits, the third most for the Storm against a GAC opponent this year.

Kayla Wyatt (8-10) picked up the complete-game win as she allowed just three runs on seven hits and struck out nine.

The roles got reversed in the nightcap though as the Muleriders held SNU to just four hits while having off of their own. The Storm also had three errors.

SAU held an 8-0 lead through four innings with four in the first and four in the fourth, but SNU scored three in the top of the fifth to make it 8-3. Short scord the first run on a Hughes single before a
Jill Clemence triple brought home two more. That was all the runs SNU pushed across the plate as SAU scored three in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away.

Clemence went 2-for-3 in the game while
Katelyn Brown (8-13) took the loss after giving up eight runs, four earned, on eight hits in three innings of work.
