COMMERCE, Texas — Southern Nazarene University took advantage of six Tarleton State errors in an 8-6 win to open the 2015 season before falling 18-0 to Texas A&M Commerce in the second game of a doubleheader.

The top half of the lineup went 7-for-12 for the Crimson Storm as
Kylie Lang led the way going 3-for-4 with an RBIÂ and a run scored.
Jill Clemence and
Sam Smith each went 2-for-4 as each scored a run while Smith drove in two.
Hannah LeBeau and
Melissa Padilla each also went 2-for-4. LeBeau scored two runs while Padilla drove in two.

Katelyn Brown (1-0) picked up the win in her first career appearance as she gave up just two runs on four hits in 4.0 innings of work. She also struck two.

The Storm scored three in the top of the first with the first coming on a Tarleton State error.
Kyndall Freer-Christopher then drove in a run with a single before Padilla singled through the left side to make it 3-0. The Texanns added one in the first and second to cut it to 3-2 before Padilla drove in LeBeau with a ground out to give the Storm a 4-2 advantage.

TSU tied the game in the bottom of the third at 4-4, but the Storm scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth to lead 7-4. Smith drove in both runs in the fourth with a single to right before Lang drove in the run in the fifth when she singled to left field. The Texanns pulled within one at 7-6 with two in the sixth, but SNU added another insurance run in the seventh when
Tristyn Short hit into a fielder's choice. Brown though shut to the door in the seventh for the win.

In the nightcap, SNU had just four hits and walked 11 batters as Commerce had 18 runs on 11 hits.Â
